Boone, Iowa – Projects will start this week in Boone to upgrade and replace the city’s natural gas system. Construction will involve 16 different projects, with a total investment of approximately $3 million.
“The construction season is in full swing,” said Jon Katzenmeier, Alliant Energy’s natural gas project manager. “In the coming weeks, we will be upgrading and replacing parts of the Boone natural gas system. These parts of the system naturally experience wear and tear over time and the upgrades will continue to ensure our customers have access to safe and reliable natural gas service.”
Intercon Energy Services is the contractor for the projects. Residents and business owners impacted by the construction projects will be notified when construction work will be occurring in their areas. The company expects to complete the construction work in December.
“These types of construction projects sometimes require streets to be inaccessible for a period of time, added Katzenmeier. “We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding. We will continue to provide them and the city of Boone updates on these projects.”

We are upgrading natural gas systems in several communities throughout Iowa in 2015. Similar projects started in March in Ames and in Nevada earlier this month.
