Alliant Energy continues natural gas projects in community

Burlington, Iowa –  Upgrading the natural gas system in Burlington ensures the community will continue to receive safe and reliable natural gas from Alliant Energy.

“The construction season is in full swing,” said Nancy Snaadt, Alliant Energy senior key account manager. “In the coming weeks, we will be replacing part of the Burlington natural gas system These upgrades will ensure our customers have access to safe and reliable natural gas service to meet their needs.”

Construction will involve replacing approximately 3,700 feet of natural gas pipe located in the downtown area of Burlington. The project is primarily located between 5th Street and Main Street south of Hwy 34 to Jefferson Street. The total investment will be approximately $840,000.

InterCon Construction Inc. is the contractor that will be performing the construction. The company expects to complete the construction work in September. Alliant Energy will notify residents and business owners when construction work will be in their area.

“These types of construction projects sometimes mean streets will have reduced traffic flow for a period of time,” added Snaadt. “We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding.”

Anyone in Burlington who currently does not have natural gas service but is interested in receiving service should call the natural gas conversion hotline at 1-888-255-4254 for more information.
